The 997.1 GT3 is the last naturally aspirated 911 GT3 built around the race-derived 3.6 Mezger flat-six, sold only with a six-speed manual and hydraulic steering. It marks the analog high-water mark of the line—before the 997.2's larger 3.8, PDK and later electric assist—which is exactly what now drives collector demand for clean, unmodified, low-mileage cars.

Know the real one
Last GT3 with the dry-sump Mezger flat-six and hydraulic steering; 8,400 rpm redline — the analog GT3 before the 997.2's 3.8, PDK and electric assist.
About 2,378 standard (non-RS) 997.1 GT3s were built globally; the track-focused GT3 RS was a separate run of roughly 1,106. Rear-drive, six-speed manual only — no PDK was offered.
The Mezger engine has no IMS bearing, so 'IMS-fixed' claims signal confusion; verify unmodified suspension/exhaust, factory (often repainted-black) wheels, and any Clubsport cage/harness fitment.
415 hp at 7,600 rpm and 298 lb-ft; optional PCCB carbon-ceramic brakes wear yellow calipers — confirm discs aren't worn, replacements are very costly.
