Porsche Cayman GT4 (981) · 2015–2016

Porsche Motorsport built the first Cayman GT4 by grafting 991 GT3 front suspension and brakes onto the 981 Cayman and fitting a 385-hp 3.8-liter flat-six from the 911 Carrera S, sold with a manual gearbox only. It arrived as the mid-engine, three-pedal antidote to the PDK-only 991 GT3, and that analog purity is what drives values today.

The one to have: 385-hp 3.8L flat-six, 6-speed manual, factory paint on the standard satin-platinum wheels, optioned with PCCB and the fixed carbon buckets — unmodified and low-mileage.

Know the real one

Manual only: Porsche never built a PDK 981 GT4 — a paddle-shift GT4 is a later 718 (982) car.
Roughly 2,500 built for 2015–2016; the 3.8 is derived from the 991 Carrera S engine, not the 911 GT3 unit.
Front suspension, uprights and brakes are shared with the 991 GT3; the body sits ~30 mm lower.
Watch for track abuse and engine swaps (DeMan/Raby 4.0–4.5L builds); factory-spec cars carry the premium, and PCCB plus fixed carbon buckets are the options that matter.
