Acura Integra Type R (DC2) · 1997–2001
Honda's front-drive homologation benchmark: a stripped, seam-welded DC2 Integra built around the hand-assembled B18C — ported head, high-compression pistons, a torque-sensing helical LSD and an 8,400-rpm redline. Sold as the Acura Integra Type R in the US (Championship White, 1997–2001) and as the Honda Integra Type R in Japan, it remains the reference point for how a FWD chassis should steer and rev.
The one to have: A stock, matching-numbers DC2 coupe — B18C5 (US 98-Spec) or B18C (JDM Spec R), hand-ported head, helical LSD, factory Championship White, no sunroof, sub-10k miles and unmodified.

Know the real one
Identity: US VINs read JH4DC231 — the 8th digit '1' denotes Type R; a '8' is a DB8/GS-R. It is a two-door DC2 coupe, never a sedan. The head casting reads PR3.
Tells of a genuine car: reinforced rear subframe, no sunroof, thinner glass, four-point strut/floor bracing, red Recaro-style seats and Momo wheel — clones are built up from GS-R or LS shells.
Production reality: the US car ran 1997, 1998, 2000 and 2001 only (Honda skipped 1999); roughly 3,800 total, with about 1,173 for 2001.
The spec that matters: hand-assembled B18C with hand-ported head, high-compression pistons, close-ratio box and a helical limited-slip diff — the drivetrain, not the badge, is the value.
