The P1 is a mid-engined plug-in hybrid hypercar built on a carbon MonoCage tub, pairing a 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 with an electric motor for 903 hp, active aerodynamics and push-to-pass IPAS electric boost. Collectors prize it as one of the 2013–2015 hybrid holy trinity alongside the Ferrari LaFerrari and Porsche 918 Spyder, capped at 375 road examples and the most overtly track-focused of the three.

The one to have: A documented low-mileage road P1 (one of 375) in a strong colour with desirable MSO options such as exposed carbon-fibre bodywork or bespoke paint; delivery-mile cars lead the market. The track-only P1 GTR (58 built) and the five Lanzante-converted road-legal P1 LM are rarer still, but sit in a separate, differently valued market.

Know the real one

One of the 2013–2015 hybrid holy trinity with the Ferrari LaFerrari and Porsche 918 Spyder, and the second car in McLaren's Ultimate Series after the F1. It uses a carbon MonoCage tub, butterfly doors, an active rear wing with DRS, and an IPAS push-to-pass electric boost.

375 road cars were built and the run sold out before deliveries finished, with allocation skewed toward the Americas (about 34%) and Europe (about 26%). Every car uses the 3.8-litre M838TQ twin-turbo V8 paired with a 179 PS electric motor for a combined 903 hp.

Do not conflate the road P1 with the track-only P1 GTR (58 built, about 1,000 PS, slick tyres and fixed race aero) or the five Lanzante-converted road-legal P1 LM. A genuine road P1 carries road lighting, number-plate provision and the standard active aero; GTR and LM cars are separate, rarer and valued on their own terms.

Value tracks mileage, colour and options. Delivery-mile cars and MSO bespoke work — exposed carbon-fibre body panels, bespoke paint, the High Downforce Kit — command large premiums, while higher-mileage cars sit well below.
