The 918 Spyder is a mid-engined plug-in hybrid hypercar pairing a 4.6-litre V8 with two electric motors for all-wheel drive and roughly 887 hp combined, one of the 2013–2015 holy trinity alongside the Ferrari LaFerrari and McLaren P1. Collectors prize it for its 918-unit production, removable Targa roof, and above all the weight-saving Weissach Package, which anchors the model's record sales.

The one to have: A documented, low-mileage Weissach Package car. The Weissach spec is the weight-optimized configuration — silver/painted magnesium centre-lock wheels, extra exposed carbon, titanium hardware and ceramic wheel bearings, roughly 41 kg lighter than standard. Paint-to-sample colours over single-digit-thousand miles command the strongest premiums and hold essentially every top result.

Know the real one

One of the 2013–2015 holy trinity plug-in hybrid hypercars alongside the Ferrari LaFerrari and McLaren P1. A 918 Spyder fitted with the Weissach Package lapped the Nurburgring Nordschleife in 6:57, then a production-car record.
The Weissach Package is the value driver: roughly 41 kg lighter through magnesium centre-lock wheels, additional exposed carbon, titanium hardware and ceramic wheel bearings. Weissach cars, especially paint-to-sample examples, account for essentially all of the model's top auction results.
Exactly 918 examples were built, matching the name; roughly 297–300 were US-market cars, each carrying a numbered build plaque. Configuration — Weissach, paint-to-sample colour, mileage — drives value far more than model year, as cars are variously titled 2014 or 2015.
How to read a car: the desirable Weissach wheels are silver or body-colour magnesium centre-locks, not the standard gloss-black turbine wheels; the two-piece Targa roof panels stow in the front trunk. Standard, higher-mileage cars on aftermarket wheels sell for roughly half of a low-mile Weissach.
