Honda S2000 · 1999–2009
Honda's front-mid-engined, rear-drive roadster, built 1999–2009 to mark the company's 50th anniversary around the highest-revving naturally aspirated production engine of its day. The AP1's 9,000-rpm F20C and a rifle-bolt 6-speed define the car; the hardtop-only AP2 CR, built in small US-market numbers, is the tier collectors now chase.
The one to have: 2008–2009 AP2 CR (Club Racer): 2.2L F22C1 · 237 hp · close-ratio 6-speed · hardtop-only with removable body-color roof · stiffer springs, added chassis bracing, quicker steering rack, wider rear tires · 699 built, US-only.

Know the real one
CR (Club Racer): US-only, 699 built across 2008–2009, all hardtop — a removable body-color roof replacing the folding soft top — with stiffer suspension, added chassis bracing and a quicker steering rack.
The AP1's 2.0L F20C makes ~240 hp and spins to a 9,000-rpm redline, roughly 120 hp/L — among the highest specific outputs of any naturally aspirated production engine of its era.
Verify a real CR: correct VIN, factory removable hardtop, deleted soft top, and Rio Yellow, Grand Prix White, Apex Blue or Berlina Black paint. Many cars advertised as 'CR' are ordinary AP2s wearing an aftermarket hardtop.
AP2 (2004–09) swapped in the 2.2L F22C1: 8,000-rpm redline instead of 9,000 but more low-end torque, a revised gearbox and suspension/geometry changes that tamed the AP1's snap-oversteer limit.
