Singer 911 (reimagined) · 2009–present

A 964-generation Porsche 911 stripped to the shell and rebuilt by Singer Vehicle Design into an air-cooled restomod: carbon bodywork, a hand-trimmed cabin, and a reworked flat-six, each car built to an individual client commission. Founded in 2009 by ex-Catherine Wheel frontman Rob Dickinson, Singer made the "reimagined" 911 the benchmark of the restomod era, where spec, options, and provenance drive value more than any model production cap.

The one to have: DLS — "Dynamics & Lightweighting Study": donor 964 rebuilt with a full carbon body over a Williams-developed 4.0L air-cooled flat-six, 500 hp at 9,000 rpm, ~990 kg, 75 commissioned. The apex reimagined 911, and the only tier that clears $3M.

Know the real one

Not a factory car: every reimagined Singer starts as a customer's 1990–94 Porsche 964 and keeps its original Porsche VIN — it is a restoration/modification, not a new build.
Value tracks the commission, not a model production number: engine spec (3.6–4.0L), options, paint-to-sample, and provenance set the price. DLS (75) and DLS Turbo (99) are the only capped, halo-priced tiers.
Engine builder matters: early Classic Study units by Ed Pink Racing Engines, later cars with Cosworth; the DLS 4.0L was engineered with Williams and Hans Mezger's input for 500 hp at 9,000 rpm.
Spot the tier: the DLS wears widened all-carbon bodywork with a pronounced ducktail/wing; a standard reimagined car (Classic Study) is narrow-body. Most examples are near-delivery-mileage, so watch for TMU/show-only cars.
